Celebrity Cruises introduces iPad art tours
Celebrity Cruises will offer iPad art tours on 3 Solstice-class ships, already home to the MacBook workstations in Internet lounges, home to more than 14,000 works of contemporary art. In launching the self-guided tours for the iPad, Celebrity has applied its Apple partnership to another onboard amenity. The iPads for art tours have floor plans of the decks, with works of art flagged on every deck. A user touches the screen to select a work of art and view details about the piece, including the title, artist’s name, medium used, description and image. Celebrity’s self-guided art tours will be available on the Solstice on Aug. 15, & Eclipse and Equinox on Aug. 21. The cruise line said the tours will be offered in Spanish by the end of 2010, and in German and French in 2011.

2010 launches a new sailing for the Celebrity Solstice which will sail year-round in the Caribbean. Previously slated to return to the Mediterranean in 2010, Solstice will spend this summer in the Mediterranean. Celebrity also is canceling its 12-day Celebrity Equinox cruises out of Barcelona and Venice in 2010.
Solstice will sail alternating seven-day eastern and western Caribbean cruises roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale in the summer months, and only eastern Caribbean itineraries in the winter. The Solstice will be Celebrity’s second ship sailing year-round in the Caribbean. Century operate four- and five-day cruises from Miami.
