EPIC
The Norwegian Epic is by far the prettiest ship I have ever seen.
The decor is subtle and well done. Nice colors but not the bright reds. It is easy on the eyes. We do have the most beautiful chandelier I have ever seen. It is the largest at sea! I felt the ship is well laid out. Easy to get around.
The food was fabulous. I love the buffet for breakfast and lunch. I believe they had almost every food on the buffet including Indian food. The buffet was well laid out. Easy to maneuver. Plenty of seats indoors and outdoors. The food at the buffet was hot (even the onion rings!)
I ate in Moderno which is the Brazilian Steak House where they carve the beef right at your table. I believe they had 14 different types of meat. You could have small pieces of each if you wanted to try them all. They kept coming around and around. So you could have as much as you like. I am not a big meat eater but everyone I ate with raved about the meat. I personally loved the chicken. Probably the best I have ever had. The salad bar in Moderno and also Cagney's Steak House was great. The lamb at the steakhouse is terrific!
The Bistro and the Italian restaurants were great also. The same as the rest of our ships. I really like the escargot in the Bistro. The room is quite pretty as well and very comfortable for a special evening! Shanghai had incredible sea bass. The sushi bar was a hot spot too. Very good. The Teppanyaki seats 144 and is the largest Teppanyaki at sea. Last Taste is a casual restaurant mid ship for breakfast, lunch or dinner. This is where the beautiful crystal chandelier is! O'Sheehan's, our Irish pub seemed to be a meeting spot since it is central on the ship. Excellent Chicken Pot Pie. (there are also three bowling alleys here). You can eat, have a drink and watch the giant two storey video screen or play air hockey or pool!
Shows...just outstanding and a whole new direction on ships. No more Las Vegas style dance revues. I had never seen Blue Man Group and I loved it. Cirque Dinner Show was 2 hours of nonstop entertainment. The performers are so talented! We also have the main restaurant, the Manhattan Room, which has a show at 9:45. So I recommended people to either go to dinner wherever and then stop by and see the show...or go to dinner in the Manhattan Room a little later and catch the show. It is Legends which has Tina Turner, Madonna, Elvis, etc. Again...very talented people. We sat for dinner at 830pm, which was perfect as dessert was being served around the time the Legend show started! Elvis (Leo) is adorable!
I really enjoyed Fat Cats, the jazz club...always crowded. There is a jazz musician named Slam who has his band in there. First, Slam is a sweetie but he is also puts on a great show. Definitely a crowd favorite. Headliners has a show with dueling piano players who also are comedians. That also was entertaining.
Bliss, the nightclub was a hot spot. I actually made it to midnight a few times. It was fun. there are 4 bowling alleys in Bliss. Club H2O which is on the top deck is a south beach sort of atmosphere with a large movie screen and dance floor (which goes over the pool). This is adults only. Second City Comedy Troop (Chicago based training ground for Saturday Night Live) were great. People were still talking about them a day later and laughing at some of the skits. They also do a murder mystery....which you know will be a riot. I cannot forget to talk about the Ice Bar. That was fun! Of course the bar is made of ice. Great drinks. They will be having ice glasses also. We also have a martini bar with a PIANO PLAYER and whiskey bar.
Also I need to mention the Sports Deck. Basketball, volleyball, tennis, ice skating, rock climbing, rappelling and bungee jumping on a trampoline. I think I tried them all (except bungee jumping!). The gym was a hot spot for me. The equipment is the best I have ever seen at sea. I go to a gym here at home and this was the same equipment (Life Style) so I know how good it is. The gym is huge. They offer spinning, TRX, Kettle Bell and yoga and pilates classes (and much more), I was quite at home in this gym. One morning on the deadhead to MIA, I was running on a treadmill and saw the most amazing sunrise. The sun was bright red and there was a big sailboat passing in front. Just one of those moments I will always remember.
The top deck is a water park. So much fun! The kids areas are top of the line. The smaller kids have a fun area with all the toys, Wii, video games. Outside on deck is a little area for the kids to play. The teens have their lounge with video games, flat screen TVs. Of course we have the Nickelodeon characters onboard. Sponge Bob and Dora. The casino is big and sort of spread out. Very nice for the gamblers. There is even gambling in the pool area!
The staterooms...I thought they were beautiful. A lot of comments about the bathrooms. They are not your basic tiny box bathroom where you cannot get dressed. On the Epic, the toilet has its own room and the shower is separate. In between the shower and bath is an area for dressing. You just pull the curtain across. The sink is outside of the bath area. So someone can brush their teeth while someone else showers. Personally after 10 days onboard, I loved it. I felt the showers were the largest I have seen in a basic balcony room. The deluxe balconies have that "little extra" square footage that works perfectly. I have never seen as much storage space. Under the couch, behind the couch, two closets, cabinets and drawers, Very comfortable. I am glad NCL went a little out of the box for these cabins. We can build the same ships or try to be innovative. There is also a coffee maker (with coffee) and safe in each room.
Studios....the single staterooms I thought were amazing. I love the idea of the shared living room where singles can meet other singles. There is a bar in there, large screen TVs, snacks. Just perfect. The colors are a cool neon! Some of them are connecting!
The Villas complex...just stunning. The suites and villas are beautiful. They have a private restaurant, private bar and private sun deck with Posh a private nightclub. There is also a small gym overlooking the pool.
Also: there is handicap lift for guests needing assistance in and out of the pools.
There are so many awesome features to this ship...but one stands out for me. Multi-generational families sailing together. Parents and Grandparents can enjoy being in the Villas Complex while kids are totally occupied all day. The entertainment at night is so exceptional that families can enjoy the shows and dining together. So for the upscale clients who want to travel with grandchildren, this is perfect for them.
